Very up to date – On-Ice Testing in Zurich April 30, 2023

For the first time we are conducting the benchmark CHL-NHL On-Ice Testing in Zurich

On April 30, 2023, the standardized benchmark on-ice test will take place in the sports center Heuried. Highly motivated ice hockey players from the age of 10 can take this test. The skills of the players are tested in ten ice hockey-specific tests. In terms of running, we test the players in the 30 meter forward sprint with and without a puck, as well as in reverse with and without a disc. We test technical skills in the 45 meter reaction test, which gives a great indication of how quickly the player can react to new situations, which also gives an indication of how the player can read a game. In the 12 meter Salom test, the skills are tested, how fast he can sprint with many changes of direction, both with and without a disc. The last test is the butterfly test, on a square from 7.60 meters to 7.60 meters switching from forward sprint to reverse and again from reverse to forward is tested both without the puck and with the puck. Thanks to modern light barrier technology, the test times are measured in milliseconds.

This test is used in the Canadian Hockey League and NHL and was developed by Hockey Canada and our partner Sport Testing. Thanks to the on-ice testing carried out by our partners in January, before the annual Top 40 Prospects Game, we have had all the testing data from these tests since 2013, which is also made available to scouts and NHL club managers. Each year, between 15 and 20 players are drafted from these Tests in the first round of NHL drafts in June. #1 Top Picks Nathan MacKinnon, Aaron Eckblad, Connor McDavid, Nico Hischier, Alexis Lafreniere completed testing with excellent results.

SISM Hockey has tested over 4,000 players in Europe, from seasoned professionals from the National League to the Swiss League and young players aged 8 and over. Highlights were the tests with the first team of the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers and the tests with HC Frölunda Göteborg, where the Swedish champion teams U16 and U20 were tested as well as the U18. In Russia, SISM Hockey tested the U16 national teams. The outstanding test data from Frölunda and Russia proved our analysis right, five of Frölunda’s best players were drawn in the first round of the NHL draft and are already in action for their NHL clubs, with Lukas Raymond (Detroit Red Wings ) developed into a superstar at the age of 21.

SISM Hockey is also active in the Russian KHL, with over 1,000 players tested by the Barys Hockey Academy in Astana, Kazakhstan, as well as players from the KHL team, and the various Kazakh national teams.

The cost per on-ice test and worldwide unique test analysis is CHF 75.– Players who book the camps in Arosa and/or Zuchwil get a discount of CHF 25.–
